An Oasis of Lifelong Learning

The Faculty Resource Center (FRC) is located on the North side of the Admissions and Records Building (Building C).  The center is open for all adjunct and full time faculty Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, and on Friday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.  It is open while school is in session during the months of August through May.

The center features five computer workstations including ZIP drive, Internet access, Reflections, two scanners and 4faculty.org.  Faculty can come in and grade papers, prepare for classes, lounge or meet with students. The Faculty Resource Center has a copy machine for small projects (limit 10 copies). You must still use the copy machine in the Educational Support Services office or through the Copy Center for larger orders. The center also has a Fax machine, TV/video, microwave, refrigerator and Sparklett’s water cooler for the faculty’s convenience.

There is no need for a password to access the computers at the center. In order to receive a College of the Desert email you must get one through the Information Systems Department. Once you have been assigned an email address, you can access it through the Internet at the college or at other computer sites.

There is also an Information Center offering books and videos regarding ‘Assistance in Diversity’. We also have many books with information about teaching resources and computer resources and programs. We also have copies of Sabbatical Reports, Journals and the Fulbright Scholarship Program. All are available for checkout with the Center’s Secretary.

The Faculty Resource Center also has information on upcoming professional development events and packets for applying for assistance with the Faculty Development Committee.

Adjacent to the center is a conference room that is available for meetings and other events. It will accommodate about 15-20 people. Please contact the Faculty Resource Center Secretary for scheduling. 776-0192.

If you desire more information please contact Debby or Lynda at the Faculty Resource Center at 776-0192.
