The Palm Desert Library, which shares space with COD's library on the College of the Desert campus, has announced a series of Fall special events - some of which feature COD faculty and staff.

Chef Steve Beno, Professor, Culinary Arts, will present "Holiday Food Art" on Nov. 12. The live demonstration will teach ways of using fruit, vegetables, and other foods to help decorate a festive holiday table.
On Jan. 28, Michael Barnard, COD Foundation's new Interim Executive Director, will discuss his book, "What I Learned at Work Today," based on his experience working with the elderly at his previous post. Barnard was Executive Director of Desert Samaritans for the Elderly prior to coming to COD in mid-October.
Dr. Bill Gudelunas, Professor, Political Science and American History, presents a two-part lecture on "Myths and Realities of Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, and Fascism. The series starts Feb. 18 and concludes Feb. 25.
The free public events are divided into three categories: Sunday afternoon musical performances, lectures, and chef demonstrations.
Musical highlights include a performance by Jimmie Rodgers, who hit the pop charts in the 1950's with "Honeycomb," "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine," and many others. The other musical performances ran the gamut from Latin to piano to barbershop to jazz.
