ADULT BASIC EDUCATION 

Recognizing the role of the community college in the area of developmental education, College of the Desert makes available courses not-for-college-credit (noncredit) for development of necessary skills and knowledge in Adult Basic Education (reading, writing and math), High School Completion, and preparation for the General Education Development Test (GED). No enrollment fees are charged to students taking adult basic education courses.

SCHOOL-TO-CAREER / TECH PREP 

School-to-Career is an approach to education that links students, parents, schools, businesses and labor to create a brighter future for youth. It’s a new way of preparing students for entry onto college and careers by making learning more relevant.

ADVANCED TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY & ENERGY Initiative 

The Advanced Transportation Technologies and Energy Initiative (ATTEi) is a network of 10 community colleges in California.  ATTEi centers offer training that relates to emerging generation (bio-energy, photovoltaic, wind-gen and geothermal), energy efficiency, alternative powered vehicles, fuels (CNG, Hydrogen, Propane and Biodiesel) hybrid and electric vehicles to the incumbent and new student workforce.
