A C H I E V E M E N T 7 Women’s Soccer made strides on the field and in the classroom as two players from La Quinta High School – Sydney Hannibal and BritneyVargas – were named to the 2016 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Academic All-StateTeam. On the field, COD put together an impressive 5-1-2 record for the month of October, climbing back into the hunt for a playoff spot and pulling off a most improbable 1-1 tie at home against the number five team in the nation. Women’s Golf sent two players to the CCCAA State Finals: Pacific Coast Athletic Conference (PCAC) MVP Li Chi Liu (Palm Desert High) and PCAC All-Conference selection Kabrea Rosas (La Quinta High). Liu was presented the prestigious MVP award for having the best scoring average in the conference, scoring an impressive 76.1 per round, besting her nearest opponent by 1.8 strokes. "Liu exemplifies what we're about – giving student-athletes an opportunity to showcase what they can do at the college level and, from that, take it to the next level," Plunkett said. Women’s Cross Country sentViridiana Ciriaco of Indio High to the CCCAA State Finals and Men’s Tennis sent their top player, DimitrijeVukovic, and their top doubles team ofVukovic and Jakob Dvorken to the CCCAA StateTennis Championships in Ojai.
