WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COURSES:
Utility-Scale Solar Energy
The Utility-Scale Solar Energy Program focuses on preparing workers for the utility-scale solar energy industry developing in the desert region of Southern California. It is 200 hours of training. The first half of the course is devoted to general solar energy theory and its applications. This portion of the course prepares students for the NABCEP Entry Level exam. The second half of the course focuses on Utility-Scale Photovoltaics (PV) and Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems. It includes construction skills for thin-film PV and parabolic trough thermal systems.
To enroll in the course, you must meet eligibility requirements and reside in California. If you are unemployed, you will probably meet these requirements. There is also an orientation and pre-course skill assessment you must take.
The next course is being planned for early fall. If you would like more information about qualifying for this program, contact Riverside County Workforce Development at (760) 863-2500.
