Q- How do I find out what jobs are available at College of The Desert?
A- You will need a computer with internet access to obtain the available openings, information and to apply for a position online. You may visit the employment opportunities page of College of the Desert website 24-hours a day at http://jobs.collegeofthedesert.edu.
Q- How do I apply for a job online?
A- The application process has three (3) simple steps:
1. Click “Create Application.”
2. Choose Administrator/Faculty Application or Classified Application.
3. Create a log in user name and password. This will enable you to come back and apply for additional positions as well as check on the status of a position.
4. Apply your online application to a specific job posting prior to the closing date.
Once you have completed your online application, you are ready to use that application to apply for any of the jobs. You can use the Search Job Postings feature on the web site to find any open position(s) that may interest you and for which you meet the qualifications. You may also use the same online application(s) to apply for future jobs at College of the Desert during the open recruitment period. When you apply your application to a job posting, you may be prompted at that time to answer supplemental questions and to attach documents (i.e. resume, list of references, statement, cover letter, unofficial transcripts, etc.) along with your electronic application. It is important that you read and follow all instructions carefully.
Your application has NOT been submitted until you receive a CONFIRMATION number from the system. This confirmation number is your receipt that you have successfully submitted your application to College of the Desert.
Q- What information will I be asked to provide?
A- You will be asked to provide personal information such as name, address, email address, phone number, etc. You will also be asked to provide information about your education and previous employment, as well as contact information regarding your employment history and references. You may be asked to attach or submit a resume, curriculum vitae, cover letter, an unofficial copy of your transcripts and statement. Please gather this information before beginning the application process. See “special instructions to applicants” on the job posting.
Q- Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
A- Yes, once you have completed your online application, you can apply to any position that is currently open. Even days or weeks later, all you have to do to apply for another position is to log back onto the applicant site and apply. The application(s) you originally completed will still be in the system available for you to update and/or submit for another job opening. Just click on the “APPLY FOR THIS POSTING” button in order to apply your online application for that opening.
Be sure to remember your user name and password so that you can log back into the system at a future time.
Q- When/how can I make changes to my application?
A- You can make changes to your general application at anytime by following the four easy steps below:
1. Login using your user name and password.
2. Looking at the menu bar on the left side of the computer screen, click on "Manage Applications" and then choose from the “Edit Existing Application” listings.
3. Make the desired changes to your application and save. Your original application is replaced with the new version.
4. The next time you apply for a position, your revised application will be submitted.
Changes you make to your general application will be reflected for any new position for which you apply.
However, once you submit an application for a particular position, you cannot go back and make changes to the submitted application. If you find that you need to make a correction (such as a new phone number or a name change) after you have submitted your application for a job opening, you should contact Human Resources at humanresources@collegeofthedesert.edu immediately. Identify your name and position applied for in the subject line of the email.

Q- How long does it take to complete the online application?
A- It depends on several factors including the amount of work experience and education you have to enter, how fast you can type, etc. You should allow 30-45 minutes for the total process. However, you can expedite the process by collecting important information and documents before you start creating your application. All documents you wish to attach must be in electronic format. If you find you are missing a piece of information requested on the application, you may be able to skip the field and go back later to complete it. It is important that you return and complete the missing information before you apply for a specific job opening.
Q- Can I attach my resume? How?
A- You may attach the required and optional documents, which are specific for each job posting, only after you submit your application to a job posting. Electronic documents in Word or PDF format (less than 2 MB) can be attached during this application process.
After completing the online application and attaching it to the position for which you would like to apply, you will come to an “Attach Documents” screen that allows you to do one of two things:
1. Attach documents using the “Browser” button to view and select your files; OR
2. Copy and paste or type in the text box.
It is important to carefully read the instructions on the “Attach Documents” screen to ensure you submitted all of the required documents for the position. See “Special Instructions to Applicants”. If any required documents are missing by the closing date, your application will be considered “Incomplete.” You will receive a Confirmation Number once you have successfully submitted your application.
Q- What if I don't have my required documents in an electronic format?
