Dr. Stefan has taught at Jefferson Middle School in Indio for 19 years and is currently a teacher at Amistad High School. She taught and set up reading programs throughout the Desert Sands Unified School District, wrote curriculum for San Diego City Schools and was a teacher in both the Sweetwater Unified School District and at Coronado Catholic Church, a Coordinator and English Teacher for Interstudy Exchange Program with Japan, and Lifeguard, Swimming Instructor and Swim Team Coach for the City of Chula Vista.
Her personal interests and hobbies include travel, politics, crafts, playing the piano and being a mom to her West Point graduate daughter, now a U.S Army officer. Her charitable, community and social affiliations include: member, California Teacher’s Association on the national, state and local levels, treasurer and political campaign consultant to Congresswoman Mary Bono and former Assemblyman Jim Battin; member, Negotiation Team, Safe Schools Committee, District Strategic Planning Team; member, CTA Republican Caucus; Vice President, President and Past President and Riverside County Representative of the Leadership Association of Southern California; and presenter at the Leadership Association’s Annual Conference and California Activity Directors Association’s Annual Conference. Dr. Stefan’s volunteer work includes: Job’s Daughters, Girl Scouts, Church, 4-H, and the American Red Cross.

Mr. Hayden is retired after 30 years in the restaurant business in Desert Hot Springs California where he and his family owned Hayden’s Fisherman’s Wharf of the Desert. He is now a consultant with Pell Group, Inc. of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Hayden has served the Desert Community College District for 25 yrs, has participated in many state committees and was elected to the Community College League Trustee Board in 1999. He was also instrumental in founding the Inland Valley Trustee and CEO Association in 1998, serving as its first Chairman. This is a consortium of 12 Districts in the So. California Area. His interests over the years have been Advanced Transportation Technology, Tech Prep and Pathway programs that are developed in high school and articulated with community colleges. Mr. Hayden holds a BBA from Loyola University Los Angeles

Mr. Marman was elected in 2006 to the Board of Trustees, Desert Community College District, to represent Area 4. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arizona, where he majored in Education and minored in Physical Education. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Midland College, Nebraska, with minors in Social Studies and English.
Mr. Marman retired in 2002 from College of the Desert where he held many positions including: Division Chair, Athletic Director, Coach, Senate President and Faculty member. He coached COD’s first Bowl Championship Team in football, established women’s athletic programs, and was the President of the Foothill Community College Athletic Conference. He has also served as the COD Alumni Association Board President, on the COD Foundation Board, and East Valley Alumni Committee.
His charitable and community and social affiliations include: Chair, the Palm Desert Park & Recreation Commission; Grand Marshall, Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade; original organizer of the Palm Desert Dance Choreography Festival; Board of Directors member, Palm Desert JAY CEES; Board of Directors member, Desert Special Olympics; Fund Drive Chair, Palm Desert United Way; and President and recipient of Rotary International Citation, Palms to Pines Rotary Club.
His hobbies include tennis, body conditioning and reading.

From 1969 to 1990 Mr. O’Neill worked for the San Francisco Unified School District. He was a Special Education Teacher in Special Day Classes and the Learning Handicapped Program from 1969 until 1979. In 1979 he accepted a District Central Office position as a Program Specialist in the Special Education Department. In this position he provided support and supervision services for Special Education Programs district wide. He held that position until 1985 when he was selected to be the Special Education Department Program Administrator. As Program Administrator he supervised Middle and High School Special Education Programs, Career/ Vocational & Transitional Programs, Alternative School Programs, Homebound Instruction, Hospital Programs, Occupational & Physical Therapy and Adaptive Physical Education. He developed cooperative programs with San Francisco State University, the State Department of Rehabilitation and Community Mental Health. He was actively involved in United States Supreme Court cases including Honig v Doe.
In 1990 Mr. O’Neill was hired by the College of the Desert as the Disabled Students Programs & /Services (DSPS) Special Education Generalist/Learning Specialist/Counselor/ High Tech Center Instructor. In this position he administered the California Community College Learning Disability Eligibility Model Psychological/Educational assessment battery to determine eligibility for Leaning Disability Services, and verified students with Acquired Brain Injuries and Developmental Disabilities. He provided academic and disability counseling, determined appropriate accommodations and also taught classes in and supervised the DSPS High Tech Center. In 1999 in addition to the above duties, Mr. O’Neill was chosen to be the Coordinator of Disabled Students Programs & Services. In this position he provided overall supervision for DSPS including staffing, budgets and liaison with various community agencies including the State Department of Rehabilitation and Riverside County Mental Health Department. He was also the College of the Desert Section 504 of the Civil Rights Act Officer.
Throughout his career at College of the Desert he was actively involved in College wide activities. Three times he was elected President of the College of the Desert Faculty Association and also held other positions within that organization. He also served on and or chaired a number of major college committees including both of the College of the Desert Market Basket Studies.
Mr. O’Neill was and still is a member of many state and national organizations and has been a presenter at numerous state, national and international conferences. In 2003 he was the recipient of the College of the Desert Alumni Association Outstanding Faculty Hall of Fame Award. He was chosen by the College of the Desert Faculty to be the recipient of the College of the Desert Faculty Member of the Year Award for 2007-08.
In June 2008 Mr. O’ Neill retired, as an Emeriti Professor, after 39 years as an educator in California. In February 2010 he was selected to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees of College of the Desert.

Aaron K. Bonner is a graduate of Central High School, located in Tuscaloosa Alabama and a Political Science major at College of the Desert. During the past two years, Aaron has been an active leader on and off campus. He served as President of the Political Awareness Club during the 2009-10 academic year. He is currently a member of the Palm Desert Library Committee. He served as an intern for the World Affairs Council of the Desert in the Spring of 2011. In his free time, Aaron enjoys playing chess, reading and writing poetry. He plans to transfer to the University of California in Los Angeles in the Fall of 2012 with the goal of attending law school after graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and Economic Policy.
