Health Insurance - Employees are offered a choice between three PP0’s and an HMO. Our current carrier is BlueShield.
Dental Insurance – Employees are offered a choice of Delta Dental (DPO) or DentalNet (DMO).
Vision Insurance - Our current carrier, Anthem Blue View Vision, provides coverage for exams, contacts, lenses, and frames.
Flex Spending Account Plan (FSA) – Our FSA, administered by Discovery Benefits, offers a Health Spending Account and Dependent Care Account to cover qualified expenses with pre-tax dollars.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – College of the Desert’s EAP coverage provides services for employees and family members including short-term counseling, legal consultations, financial counseling, referrals, and other services through MHN.
Life and AD&D Insurance – Employees are provided district paid life insurance of $50,000 through Anthem Life.
Long Term Care – Employees are provided a basic district paid long term care plan through Unum with the option to upgrade and include family members at the employee's cost.
403(b) Thrift Savings Plan - This is a defined contribution retirement plan. Eligibility may vary based on employee group.
Paid Leave - Amounts are prorated for staff hired working less than 40 hours per week and employees working less than 12 months per year.
- Holidays - 15 paid holidays (for full-time 12 month employees)
- Vacation – May vary depending on employee group and length of service
- Sick Time – Accrued at one day per month (pro-rated for employees working less than 40 hours per week or 12 months per year)
Retirement Systems - Employees and the district contribute to either CalPERS or CalSTRS retirement systems.
