COD golfers win 27th league title in row

The College of the Desert golf team won a conference title for the 27th year in a row Monday, taking top honors in the Pacific Coast Conference with a pair of victories.

The first win came on a score of 383, narrowly edging out Palomar College, who finished with a score of 386. Kazu Sakai led the way for the Roadrunners with a 71.

Maximillien Philippe shot a 74, Christian Rajcic finished with a 75, George Grinzewitsch shot an 80 and Connor Nash an 81.

In the second round, COD beat Palomar by a score of 376 to 381. Sakai shot a 71, Grinzewitsch a 75, Philippe a 77 and Rajcic a 78. Nash shot a 77 and Chris Cotton shot a 75.

The Roadrunners will take the course again Monday at Stone Ridge in Riverside for the regional round.
