Auditions Announced for COD’s Spring 2014 Musical

College of the Desert (COD) will hold auditions for the Spring 2014 musical 'Les Misérables' on Sunday, Dec. 15. Application DEADLINE is Friday, Dec. 13, 2013 at Noon.


The dynamic team of Sha Newman, director and choreographer, and Darlene Romano, music director, are back for another COD production. The duo will hear first call auditions by appointment only on Sunday, Dec. 15 in the Pollock Theatre located on the Palm Desert Campus.

Students, faculty, staff and community residents are invited to audition. All roles are open, see below for a character breakdown that includes, age range, general requirements and vocal range.

Auditions:  Be prepared to perform 32 bars of a musical theatre piece that best displays your voice range and ability. You may choose a piece from the show. Bring legible piano-vocal sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Pre-recorded music, accompaniment tracks and/or a cappella auditions will not be permitted. Those being considered for specific roles may be asked to read from the score.

COD productions have won the Desert Star Awards best musical for the past six years.

'Les Misérables' will be presented at the McCallum Theatre May 1-4, 2014. The production will be fully staged and features the complete Broadway orchestration.
