Dan Waddell is an accomplished, versatile keyboardist. He has studied with noted teachers Leonard Jacobsen, Richard Faith, Arthur Loesser, Constance Keene and Abram Chasins.  His lifelong music experiences include those of a piano competition winner, featured concert pianist, featured show band music director/pianist, featured event pianist, piano accompanist for vocalists and instrumentalists, chamber music pianist, symphony pianist and soloist, church organist, choir director, organ designer, adjudicator for the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition and piano/music teacher. Dan Waddell has made his living performing and teaching music and has been a valued member of the adjunct music faculty at College of the Desert since 1990.    


1961-1965: U​niversity of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington 

· Bachelor of Music in piano, student of Leonard Jacobsen 

· Advanced study with: Arthur Loesser, Abram Chasins & Constance Keene  


1962: Greater Spokane Mu​sic Festival 

· First score of 100 ever awarded 1964: Portland Rose Music Festival Music Scholarship 

· Appeared with Pat Boone and “Doc” Severinsen 


1966-1969: United State​s Army 

· Navy School of Music (Army element) and 36th Army Band 


1969-1972: University​ of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona 

· Master of Music in piano, student of Richard Faith 


1972-1974: Unive​rsity of Arizona 

· Lecturer in Music 


1976-1983: The ​Cloud Room, Camlin Hotel, Seattle, Washington 

· Featured pianist with legendary Seattle entertainer Gil Conte


1983-1990: Music ​Director, Concert Pianist, Entertainer 

· Sitmar, Seabourn, Holland America and Royal Cruise Lines 

· Music direction for: Cab Calloway, Scott Record, George Kirby, Tony Sandler and many others 


1990 to pr​esent: 

· College of the Desert Adjunct Faculty (Music) 

· Pianist and soloist with the Desert Symphony (McCallum Theater) 

· Pianist at every major venue in the Coachella Valley: Ritz-Carleton, El Dorado CC, Morningside CC, The Vintage Club, etc. 


1991- 20​09: 

Organist / Pianist / Keyboard: St. Francis of Assai Church, La Quinta, California 



Adjudicator, Joanna Hodges piano competition 


2003 – 2011: 

Organist / Pianist: Temple Isaiah, Palm Springs, California 



St. Martha’s Catholic Church, Murrieta, California: Designed (with Tom Hazelton) and oversaw installation of a new 66 rank organ
