Get the EDGE at COD

Get the Edge

The EDGE program at College of the Desert provides new and continuing students who tested into basic skills courses on the college assessment test the opportunity to review math and/or English in preparation to retake their assessment test and potentially eliminate some of the basic skills courses required. The program also prepares students for their first year at COD, meet fellow students and faculty, and learn the valuable skills needed to be a successful college student.

What is EDGE?

EDGE is a 3-week program that offers a fast-paced review of basic skills in Math and/or English to "Engage, Develop, Grow and [be] Empowered". New and continuing students who placed below college level courses on their assessment test and have not taken a math and/or English course are eligible to participate.

The program provides students with ongoing support throughout their first year including follow up calls, workshops, EDGE club events and informational emails.

What are the benefits of participating in the EDGE?

Students who participate and successfully complete the EDGE program are able to take advantage of many opportunities, including:

  • Math and/or Writing/Reading Review
  • Priority registration
  • Access to Textbooks and Computers during participation in EDGE
  • Dedicated Faculty, Counselors and Staff
  • College Student Success Strategies
  • Assistance with Financial Aid Applications and Financial Literacy Exposure
  • And most of all, a chance to place yourself into higher-level classes, saving time and money as you pursue your college degree!
