HS/ECE has moved into the New Barker Nursing Complex Building!
The Division of Health Sciences offers two degree programs and three certificate programs that prepare men and women for careers in health occupations. Educational pathways include both theoretical instruction on campus and clinical experience in local hospitals and clinics.

HS/ECE Division Office Hours:
- Monday - Thursday: 8 AM to 5:00 PM
- Friday: 8 AM to 2 PM (Closed in Summer)
- Saturday - Sunday: CLOSED

Most other basic equipment (stethoscope, watch, etc.) is available at the COD Bookstore.
- CAMPUS CHILD CARE: The McCarthy Child Development and Training center serves children 12 months to 5 years old. It is state funded providing care for school hours as well as breakfast, lunch, and/or snack depending on the hours of care. Parents must provide income eligibility and need of services. Please call 760-862-1308 for more information.
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
NOTICE: While Social Security Numbers are not required to take Nursing coursework, the facilities used for clinical instruction do require them. Social Security Numbers are also required for Board examinations at the completion of the various healthcare programs. If you do not have a Social Security Number please contact the HS/ECE Division office for further instruction.

NURSING PROGRAM OPTIONS:
Please refer to the current College of the Desert catalog to view the most up-to-date information for all program options listed below. NOTE: Current increased enrollment numbers in the RN program have made placement in the 30-Unit Option and as a transfer applicant difficult. Please continue to monitor the Nursing website.
- 30-Unit Option: Application Available October 1st to October 31st annually.
- LVN-to-RN Transition Course (HS 055): Application Available October 1st to October 31st annually. Must hold current California LVN license. See Advanced Placement link in above list for more information.

NOTICE: Applicants are advised to not submit official transcripts to this division unless you are submitting an application packet.
