  • Continuing and Returning Students have priority registration based on units completed at College of the Desert. 

    SPRING 2010 PRIORITY REGISTRATION DATES ARE
                  40+    units completed at College of the Desert    Dec. 3
                  20-39 units completed at College of the Desert     Dec. 7
                  0-19   units completed at College of the Desert     Dec. 9

    New students are assigned a registration date by the Counseling Center after Assessment and Orientation requirements are met. 

PLAN YOUR PROGRAM

  • Complete the registration form found in Printed Class Schedule.
  • Prepare a tentative class schedule. Choose alternate class selections as you plan your program.

CLOSED OR CANCELLED CLASSES

  • If a class is filled try for another section.
  • Call the registration system periodically to see if seats have become available.
  • Attend the first class meeting to obtain instructor’s permission to enroll. Instructor needs to sign and date the Add/Drop form. Take the signed Add/Drop form to the Admissions and Records Office to register before the late registration deadline.

COREQUISITE/CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

Some classes require concurrent enrollment in one or more labs or supplementary classes.

  • Request the lecture and lab classes when both are required.

COURSE REPETITION

  • Refer to the College Policies in this class schedule for information regarding course repetition.
  • If requesting an exception to the Course Repetition Policy, a petition must be filed with Admissions and Records. Petition available online.
  • If you encounter problems with course repetition, call the Admissions and Records Office.

DROPPING COURSES

Make sure to drop courses via the web or telephone registration systems. Do not rely on being dropped for non-payment or non-attendance. Drops for non-payment or non-attendance are subject to district administrative decisions. Students are responsible for dropping courses they are not at tending.

DUPLICATE COURSE

Do not request two classes with the same course number and title.

PREREQUISITES COMPLETED

  • Students are not permitted to register for a class if the prerequisite has not been met. Prerequisites for classes are stated in the Class Schedule and College Catalog.
  • See a counselor for assistance in determining eligibility for a class and/or clearance to register. Bring transcripts from other colleges/universi ties you have attended.

TIME CONFLICT

  • Do not request two classes which are scheduled during the same or overlapping time periods.

UNIT LIMITATION

A normal class load is 12-18 units. Students working full time are encouraged to carry a reduced load. Students with advanced standing, and having a “C” average or better are permitted to enroll in more than 19 units with approval by the Dean, Student Support Programs & Services or his designee.
