Enrollment Procedures

Step #1: Complete the Admissions Application at www.collegeofthedesert.edu.  Then click under "New Students."  Read the directions, complete your application, and click on "Submit."  24 hours after submitting your application, you should receive an e-mail giving you your Student Identification Number(SIN).

Step #2: Once you receive your SIN, call the Assessment Center at (760) 776-7413 to make an appointment for your Assessment Test.  You must have your SIN (Step #1) in order to make this appointment.  The computerized test usually takes two hours to complete.  The test measures your English, Reading and Math skills and places you into an appropriate class for your skill level.  Remember these are not pass/fail tests.  A photo identification is required to take the test.  The Assessment Center is located in the Academic Skills Center (ASC/Bldg. E).

Step #3: As a new student to College of the Desert, you are required to participate in a new student Orientation.  Live (In-Person) Orientations will begin December 15.  Please be advised that a hold may be placed on your registration if you do not complete this criteria.  Click here for the orientation schedule.

Step #4: Students who have attended other colleges, please bring your transcripts to the Counseling Center for review and evaluation.
