City Councilmen, Waymond Fermon, born and raised in Indio was brought up in the public-school system before graduating from Indio High School in 1998. He attended College of the Desert and matriculated from College of the Desert’s first Public Safety Academy. Council member Fermon went on to the California Department of Corrections, Richard McGee Correctional Training Center, where he graduated as a Correctional Officer. Fermon has since been employed at Calipatria State Prison (CAL) in Imperial County. He has worked various positions, whilst collaborating alongside multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. His is also a small business entrepreneur. A product of his community and former state athlete, Fermon has a passion for supporting local youth sport and academic programs. Fermon prides himself in outreach and community-oriented law enforcement. He has been active in numerous outreach programs throughout the Coachella and Imperial Valley.
Fermon is known throughout the Coachella and Imperial Valley for his activism, community service, law enforcement work, and being a friend to many. As an African American elected official in the Coachella Valley, he prides himself as being a role model for the youth and the community.
