McCarthy Center Book Donation

The McCarthy Family Child Development & Training Center received a donation of about 200 books from the Jewish Men's Outreach Group of the Desert on Friday, February 7, 2020. The monetary value of the donation totaled approximately $2,000.

The organization first visited the College on Thursday, December 5, 2019 during a Foundation Community Engagement Tour. After visiting the campus and learning about the McCarthy Center, the group held their first book drive event, in an effort to give back to young children in the community, including those at College of the Desert.

The donation was organized by husband and wife duo Phil and Karen Hudis, who together with a group of six other individuals, visited the College to gift children new books to enjoy. Students at the Center were delighted to receive the book donation, which will provide innumerable learning and reading opportunities for generations to come at the College.

The mission of the Jewish Men's Outreach Group of the Desert is to bring social and voluntary good deeds to those in the Coachella Valley, according to Ben Weissbach, Outreach Representative for the group.
