Record Turn-Out for Family Night

College of the Desert experienced a record turn-out for its second annual Family Night /Noche de Familia on Wednesday, December 11 at the Palm Desert Campus. Almost 1,000 guests attended the free, open house event – up from last year’s 600 participant count.

During Family Night, prospective students and their families attended presentations and learned about the College and the admission process. Financial aid opportunities were also discussed, including how to qualify for the free tuition program available to high school seniors (or equivalent) in the Coachella Valley.

Information was provided in both English and Spanish to attendees, and dinner was also served to those who RSVP’d for the event.

“The College of the Desert team did a tremendous job with promoting this event at high schools, community events, churches and other locations. We were thrilled with the attendance as Family Night showcased our institiution’s commitment to serve students and families from the Coachella Valley. Additionally, we demonstrated our dedication to elevate the college-going access and educational opportunities for anyone that wants to enroll at COD,” said Dr. Oscar Espinoza-Parra, Dean of Enrollment Services.

Counselors, staff and current students were also available during an open house held in the gymnasium. Representatives from almost every area of the College were on hand to guide families throughout the evening and present them with the tools and information needed to enroll at College of the Desert this upcoming spring and fall semester.
