Student Health and Wellness Workshops
September is Suicide Prevention Month, and in honor of it, the Student Health and Wellness Center has partnered with Riverside County’s Crisis Hotline and Suicide Prevention Helpline, 951-686-HELP, to provide support and assistance to students at College of the Desert.
On Thursday, September 10, the county will be presenting two “Know the Signs: Suicide is Preventable” Zoom sessions, in both English and Spanish.
These Zoom sessions will help attendees recognize when someone they care about is in distress and will provide ways to help. Through this partnership with Riverside County, Student Health and Wellness is proud to present an opportunity to learn about the signs of suicide so that together, we can help prevent it.
English Session
Know the Signs: Suicide is Preventable (9/10/20 - 3 p.m.)
Join us for "Know the Signs: Suicide is Preventable" with Jennifer Carson, the Coordinator for the Riverside Crisis and Suicide Prevention Helpline. Jennifer holds an M.A. in Counseling from George Washington University and has 20 years of experience in behavioral health. The Riverside County Crisis and Suicide Prevention Helpline, run by the United Way of the Inland Valley's Community Connect, has served Riverside County since 1968 and are there for the community now.
