Apply for NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program

For the third year, College of the Desert in collaboration with NASA, will be hosting the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars program! This opportunity is open to all U.S. citizens and COD students from all majors.

“Through the NASA NCAS program, students get a closer look at NASA’s unique missions and research,” said Dr. Martha Garcia, Superintendent/President. “They also learn how to develop their talents, interests and skills to become future STEM professionals.”

The NCAS program is FREE and consists of two phases:

Phase I consists of a five-week online asynchronous class that will take place from April 27 to June 1. The class will consist of learning about different NASA missions, astrobiology and the International Space Station, among other topics. Since the class is asynchronous, students will be able to go at their own pace and the course won't interfere with other classes.

Phase II consists of a robotics competition in which students will build and program a rover to do different tasks. No previous experience or background knowledge is necessary to participate. Students will learn everything they need to know throughout the course. The tentative date for Phase II is August 8 to August 12.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 6, 2022, and the application can be found at https://www.nasa.gov/stem/murep/projects/ncas.html
