Basic Peace Officer Training

If so, College of the Desert encourages you to register for the Basic Peace Officer Training, which begins on February 5, 2022. 
 
The Basic Peace Officer Training can enhance your skills within the public service sector and lead to a future career as a Basic Peace Officer in the state of California.
 
This course is referred to as the Module III Academy and is designed to meet the minimum requirements of a Level III Reserve Officer, as established by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). It is the first of three components of the Regular Basic Course-Modular Format Academy required to become a full-time peace officer. 

The Basic Peace Officer Training is a discipline/stress-oriented program with an emphasis on professionalism/ethics and leadership, physical fitness, vehicle operations, arrest methods/defensive tactics, report writing, first aid/CPR, and firearms training. 

College of the Desert students enrolled in classes for the Spring 2022 semester will be paid up to $100 per unit, thanks to a one-time retention and re-engagement grant from the U.S. Department of Education, aimed at getting people back to school following difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Student who register for the Basic Peace Officer Training may earn up to $700, after completion of the class.

Schedule: 02/05/2022-05/28/2022, Tuesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
