A message from Acting Superintendent/President Val Martinez Garcia
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
I hope you are safe and taking care of yourself and those around you as we watch and wait for an end to the danger and destruction of the fires in Los Angeles.
The fires have caused immense loss and devastation for tens of thousands of our Southern California neighbors, including many in our college community. It seems that everyone I talk to has a story of how they or someone they know has personally been impacted. As we all come together to support one another during this difficult time, I wanted to remind everyone that help is available for those who have been impacted.
If you have been affected by the fires and are in need of assistance, whether it be emotional support, resources, or referrals, please know that our counselors are here to help. They can provide you with the support you need during this challenging time. I am currently working with Student Services to ensure these services are readily available. I will also be working with ASCOD and CARE to identify other needs and ways the College can help.
For those who are looking to help others in need, many in our desert community have opened their homes and hearts to those who have been displaced. Your support and generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the fires.
You are not alone. We are here for each other. Please do not hesitate to reach out for help if you need it.
Stay safe and take care.
V. Martinez Garcia
