College Issues Statement
College of the Desert issued the following statement in response to the racist violence against Asian and Asian-American people in the United States:
“College of the Desert condemns the discrimination and hate crimes targeting Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). The most recent incident in Georgia exacerbates the pain and fear in the AAPI community. There can be no tolerance for these extreme acts of racism and senseless violence. After a year of unprecedented trauma and loss, it is heartbreaking that fear and prejudice are escalating. We must strengthen our institutional commitment to the respect and dignity for all. And we vow to continue our work to support and teach diversity, equity and inclusion within our College and community.”
