Marks Art Center Faculty & Staff Exhibition

College of the Desert is pleased to announce that a new exhibition of artwork by faculty and staff is on display now through February 16 at the Marks Art Center.

There will also be an artists’ reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 2. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.  

Live music will begin at 5 p.m. with performances by music department faculty Chris Reba and Jenne Carey, and The Hellions, featuring ESLN (English as a Second Language Noncredit) Instructor Angel G. Lua. The lineup will also include a poetry reading by English department faculty Ruth Nolan and Rebecca Gaydos.

“I am looking forward to seeing our talented faculty across many different disciplines shine and bring attention to the wonderful work that the Marks Art Center staff are doing,” said Dr. Sara Butler, Dean, Social Sciences and Arts. 

The exhibition will present an eclectic collection of works in a variety of mediums by faculty and staff representing a diverse cross-section of the College campus fabric. 

Artists include: Adjunct Faculty Arlette Poland (Philosophy), Mike Gladych (Radio/TV), Maile Klein (Digital Design), Robin Goins-Cornell (Psychology), and Steve Larkin (Physical Education); Professors Emily Madigan (Art), Reid Sagara (English), and Chris Reba (Commercial Music); Art Gallery Assistant Andrea Calderon; Librarians Mary Grace Maloney and Deanna Rallo; IT Technician Janet Castillo; Instructional Support Specialist Laurel Conradson; Bilingual Counseling Services Secretary Guadalupe Quintana; and Adjunct Art Faculty Toby Alan Besson, Kandra Scullin, Yehsiming Jue, David Goetz, Amber Smith, Erynn Richardson, Rachel Deane, and Luis Rodriguez.

The Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts (MAC) is a nonprofit facility that supports arts education and enriches the cultural lives of our students, faculty, and community. The MAC is at 43500 Monterey Ave., Palm Desert. The gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and by appointment.
