Wisconsin native, Tim Bruneau holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Choral Conducting from Lawrence University and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from California State University at Los Angeles. He has received additional vocal training from such luminaries as Marilyn Horne, Beverly Sills, Martin Katz, Gerard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Benita Valente, Thomas Allan, and Jane Randolph.

A lyric baritone, Tim has sung under legendary conductors Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa, Ricardo Muti, Margaret Hillis, and Paul Salamunovich, in choral and solo performances with the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Ravinia Festival Chorus, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus.

Mr. Bruneau has appeared with numerous well-known singers and instrumentalists in concert, including sopranos Leontyne Price, Judith Blegen, Janet Hopkins and Helen Boatwright, mezzo-sopranos Frederica von Stade and Suzanna Guzmán, and baritone Rodney Gilfry. He has accompanied celebrated soprano Renée Fleming, mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade and Broadway performers Carol Burnett, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Johanna Gleason and Barbara Cook. He has collaborated on recordings with Andy Williams, Rod Stewart, Maureen McGovern, Rebecca Luker and Sylvia McNair.

Tim has received awards for outstanding teaching from the National Education Association, UCLA, UC-San Diego, California State University-Los Angeles and the Walt Disney Foundation. He continues as a successful private voice teacher, and his students have appeared with the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Paris Opera, Houston Grand Opera, and Santa Fe Opera, the symphony choruses of Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Chicago and Milwaukee, as well as the Broadway productions of The Lion King, Light in The Piazza, Ragtime, The Drowsy Chaperone and Phantom of The Opera.

Mr. Bruneau is on the faculty of College of the Desert where he teaches voice and conducts both the COD Chamber Singers and COD Jazz Singers. He recently appeared in both Jekyll & Hyde and Anything Goes at the McCallum Theater, as well as in recital at the Pollock Theater. He is delighted to be beginning his seventh season as the Artistic Director of the California Desert Chorale, the Coachella Valley’s premiere choral ensemble, as it celebrates twenty years of enhancing the desert’s cultural landscape with fine choral concerts and vocal recitals.

Mr. Bruneau has appeared as both a singer and pianist in most venues in the Coachella Valley including: the McCallum Theater, the Annenberg Theater and the Indian Wells Theater. He is also a composer, and his choral compositions and art songs have been performed throughout the United States. He resides in Rancho Mirage, CA.
