Self-Certification Symptom Screening Process for Students and Campus Visitors

All College of the Desert students attending in-person classes or activities and non-employee visitors should self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to campus. The  CDC Self-Screen site provides general guidelines to determine whether or not a person should come to campus or work.

If you do not pass, do not come to campus, stay home, and notify your instructor(s) immediately of your absence if you are a student. Depending upon your situation, you may be asked to stay away from class for an extended period. When you notify your instructor, please provide them with your contact information (phone or email) and your College of the Desert Student ID number.

As is currently the case, your instructor will notify the COVID-Reporting team of your absence, and a representative will contact you for more information and instructions. Once cleared to return, you and your instructor will also be notified of your expected return date.

Self-Screening Process: Questions to Ask Yourself BEFORE Coming to Campus.

Question: Regardless of my vaccination status, in the last 48 hours, have I experienced any of the symptoms below?

IMPORTANT:
ANSWER “YES” EVEN IF YOU BELIEVE THE SYMPTOM(S) IS BECAUSE OF SOME OTHER MEDICAL CONDITION (FOR EXAMPLE, ANSWER “YES” IF YOU HAVE A RUNNY NOSE BECAUSE OF ALLERGIES).

·        fever or chills

·        cough

·        shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

·        fatigue

·        muscle or body aches

·        headache

·        new loss of taste or smell

·        sore throat

·        congestion or runny nose
