Counseling Services

Our Veterans Counselors are here to support you with your educational goals and help you navigate your college experience. 

To schedule a counseling appointment, please call 760-773-2536, visit the Veterans Resource Center during business hours, or email veterans@collegeofthedesert.edu. 

Ways to Meet with a Veterans Counselor 

In-Person Appointments 

• Meet with a Veterans Counselor at the Veterans Resource Center at our Palm Desert Campus. We encourage you to contact our office in advance to schedule an appointment or confirm counselor availability. 

Phone Appointments  

• A Veterans Counselor will call you at the phone number provided at your scheduled appointment time. 

Video Appointments 

• Connect with a Veterans Counselor through ConexED or Zoom. Video meetings must be scheduled in advance by phone or in-person in our VRC. Once scheduled, a meeting link will be sent to your COD student email with instructions on how to join your appointment. 

Preparing for Your Counseling Appointment 

To help you make the most of your counseling session, we encourage you to: 

• Have your questions and relevant documents ready including external transcripts from other colleges, if applicable so your counselor can better assist you. 

For phone or video appointments, we encourage you to:

• Find a quiet, safe location where you can focus on your appointment without distractions. For safety reasons, counseling appointments cannot be conducted while a student is driving. 
• Have access to a web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer for phone and video appointments, as your counselor may guide you through college websites and online resources. 

Drop-In Counseling 

• Need to connect with a Veterans Counselor but don't have a scheduled appointment? Drop-in counseling is available during designated hours, either in person or by phone. Drop-ins are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and wait times may vary depending on counselor availability. For current drop-in hours, please call 760-773-2536.
