The Outreach Team is committed to providing information and assistance to prospective students, parents, and community members regarding the opportunities available at College of the Desert. Below you will find the services and workshops provided by the EDGE/plEDGE Outreach Team and the Financial Aid Office. This presentation will cover topics such as the benefits of Community College, academic &, student services programs, admission/ applying to COD (College of the Desert), a brief overview of financial aid, and the EDGE/plEDGE program. It is approximately 1 hour long.

This presentation is focused on providing information about College of the Desert programs and services to parents. Topics such as community College benefits, academic programs, student services programs, admission/ applying to COD (College of the Desert), brief overview of financial aid, and the EDGE/plEDGE program. It is approximately 1.5-2 hours long. 

This presentation covers the Financial Aid process including how to apply for the California Dream Act & FAFSA applications, different types of aid available, and tips/resources. It is approximately 1 hour long.

Outreach Specialists will guide and assist students through the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and CADAA (California Dream Act) application. Students will need their parents appropriate tax information to complete a financial aid application. Note, the 2023-2024 application will require 2021 tax information. Financial Aid workshops can vary in time based on the need of the group.

Outreach Specialists will guide and assist students with the College of the Desert application (if the student has a valid Social Security Number, they will need it for the application). This workshop can take up to about 1 hour depending on the students. 

Outreach Specialists will guide and assist students on the process of becoming a COD student including finding and completing the online orientation to ensure they are granted priority registration (online orientation is mandatory). This workshop will require students to have access to a computer or laptop. This workshop can take up to 30-40 minutes depending on the students.

The EDGE/plEDGE presentation will cover what the program is and the difference between EDGE and plEDGE, and highlight the requirements of the plEDGE program to remain eligible. This presentation is approximately 30 minutes long. 

Outreach Specialists will guide and assist students with finding, completing, and submitting the EDGE/plEDGE application. This hands-on workshop can vary in time, however, the application itself should take 15 minutes. 

Outreach specialists provide information about academic & student services programs offered at College of the Desert along with information regarding the admission process.
