COD Scholar Sponsors
On behalf of College of the Desert (COD), we wanted to thank you and your organization for supporting the students of our community. The Office of Financial Aid is improving our internal process to expedite the disbursement of scholarships. With these improvements, the Office of Financial Aid has a few updates and reminders to share with you and your organization.
Beginning the Spring 2023 semester (January 2023), the Office of Financial Aid will only verify specific requirements for all COD donors. Any additional requirements not listed below will need to be verified by the donor before sending a scholarship check to the College of the Desert.
The following requirements will be verified for each scholarship recipient at COD:
- The student’s enrollment per term (less than ½ time, half-time, ¾ time, or full-time);
- The student’s enrollment level (1st or 2nd year);
- The student’s declared academic program(s) (major); and
- The student’s official cumulative grade point average (GPA) at COD
As part of the improved process, the Office of Financial Aid asks all donors to include the following information with all scholarship checks sent to COD:
- List of scholarship recipient(s) (full name);
- COD identification number (student ID);
- Amount award to each recipient; and
- Specific term scholarship will be applied (ex: Fall 2022 or Spring 2023)
Once funds have been received, the Office of Financial Aid will ensure that all scholarships have been disbursed to student accounts. Note, all scholarships applied to a student’s account will first be applied to their tuition and fees at COD. All remaining funds will be disbursed to students.
